ThemeSurfer is a total conversion and enhancement of Internet Explorer.
A browser add-on for Microsoft Internet Explorer, ThemeSurfer lets you
apply themes to your Internet environment just like Microsoft PLUS applies a desktop
theme to your Windows environment. ThemeSurfer is the only
Internet transportation device of its kind - designed to give you control and
choice, to truly reflect your interests, personality, and destinations.
No other browser technology can give you the level of personalization that
ThemeSurfer can: you decide what it looks like, what it sounds like, and where
it goes.
What is a SurferTheme?
SurferThemes are more than just static pictures and one-dimensional sound
clips. ThemeSurfer themes, referred to as 'SurferThemes' can go much
further. SurferThemes differ from Desktop themes in the following ways:
Graphics: You control the look completely with
graphic control of the buttons, backgrounds and screens. Support for gif,
jpg, bmp, and sequential files.
Audio: ThemeSurfer uses the direct DirectAudio
component of DirectX to bring you awesome, multi-channel sound with loop-able
ambiance and load percentage sounds.
Destinations: SurferThemes include the ability to
link to live content on the web! The main browser window along with the 3 sliding panels can all be connected to
the URL of your choice - either local or remote. This takes the Theme
concept to a whole new level. Users and theme developers can now create
themes that directly link to theme-relevant web material! Your Harley
Davidson theme can have links to all the motorcycle WebPages and your baseball
theme can link to your favorite team websites. Push the envelop far enough
here and an extensive theme can actually be a subject matter Portal.
Actions: ThemeSurfer buttons can be configured many
ways and ordered the way you want. Make a button launch your word
processor, mail program, or default browser. Developers can even
create custom executables to ship with and link to their themes! Button
actions also control basic internet navigation functions.
